Hair Stylist/Hairdresser Position

Hairingtons Hair Port is looking for a creative and professional Hair Stylist/Hairdresser with a passion for beauty and fashion to perform full hair care services including but not limited to: shampooing, haircut, hair color, hair styling, and hair perming. The Hair Stylist/Hairdresser will consult with clients to assess their eligibility, current hair condition and preferences to advice and recommend hair styles based on their wants, face shape and complexion. You will educate clients about proper hair and scalp care and maintenance appointments.

The Hairstylist/Hairdresser will ensure work equipment is sanitized and treat clients in a welcoming, courteous and empathetic manner. You will maintain knowledge about hair care products and hair trends to promote and sell hair care services and products.

To ensure success, you shall be responsible for making the clients feel relaxed and pampered throughout the session. You must have the ability to make others feel good about themselves. You must maintain broad knowledge about latest and popular trends in haircuts and hair styling. It is very important that you build ongoing relationships with clients and are always on top of your customer service skills to build a solid client base.

This is a full-time position, minimum of 35 to maximum of 40 hours per week. Job is non-seasonal, with salary ranging from $15.20 to $17 per hour. Candidates who have 2 or more years of related work experience is preferred, commensurate with the job posting requirements and qualifications. The successful candidate will undergo 90 days of work probation.
 

Hair Stylist/Hairdresser Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Providing the following services:

• cutting
• styling
• shampooing
• blow drying
• perming
• colouring
• other hair care services

2. Keeping the appointments in a timely manner by monitoring schedule.
3. Welcoming clients in a warm, friendly manner, accompanying them to and from treatment rooms, and thanking them sincerely on departure.
4. Building and maintaining relationships with regular clients.
5. Staying abreast of current fashion trends and popular hair styles.
6. Maintaining a strong inventory of hair care products.
7. Maintaining strong product knowledge to promote and sell hair services, and products.
8. Collecting payment for services rendered.
9. Adhering to esthetics policies pertaining to chemical usage, and cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance of equipment.
10. Ceasing treatment and informing supervisor in the event of inappropriate guest behavior.

Hair Stylist/Hairdresser Requirements:

-Diploma and/or Certificate/s in Hair Stylist Course or related programs

– (CANS) Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia License to practice as a Hair Stylist

-2+ years related industry experience is preferred.

-Proficient in performing above all applicable services

-Excellent communication skills.

-Neat and with pleasing personality, outstanding people skills and warm, friendly manner.

-Detail-oriented with a passion for fashion and beauty.

-Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

-Ability to maintain client confidentiality.

-Ability to use computer for booking clients.

– Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
